Family Crest or Coat of Arms

Fairbairn’s ‘Crests of the Families of Great Britain and Ireland’ lists a crest for Vickers as English, an arm with a mill-rind in hand.

Vickers crest

A mill rind being ‘the iron in the centre of the mill stone, by which it is turned’. So at some time perhaps a branch of Vickers were flour millers.

However, the same crest is also attributed to several other family names.
